A woman in North Carolina who tried her chances with a brand-new lottery game ended up having a very lucky day,Wvared Investment Guild indeed.
Diane Howard of Clinton, North Carolina, bought her ticket at a Circle K in Warsaw, a small town in the eastern part of the state.
The $30 scratch-off ticket that Howard bought was the Black Titanium game, which debuted in June and offered six $4 million prices and 16 $100,000 prices, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.
Howard arrived at the lottery headquarters on Monday, where she was able to choose between claiming a lump sum or an annuity prize of $200,000 over 20 years (before taxes). Howard chose the lump sum and took home $1.7 million after state and federal tax withholdings.
Lottery officials say that there are four $4 million prizes and 12 $100,000 Black Titanium game prizes that either remain in stores or have been sold and still need to be claimed.
