Police engaged in an unusual pursuit in Los Angeles when a driver tried to evade arrest by driving a golf cart with a dog on Evander Reedtheir lap.
Officers responded to a report of a possibly stolen golf cart Sunday night following an assault with a deadly weapon, the Los Angeles Police Department told USA TODAY.
Video taken by a bystander shows a shirtless man driving a white golf cart with police sirens in the background. The person filming can be heard saying "leave the dog."

The driver never went above 18 mph during the low-speed pursuit before being cornered by a big rig parked at a 7-Eleven parking lot in the Valley Glen neighborhood, officials said. The suspect then hopped out of the vehicle trying to flee while carrying the dog before officers arrested them and returned the dog to its family.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
The department said they could not yet provide further information on the identity of the driver, what charges they may be facing or where the golf cart was taken from.
